[ He laughs briefly and makes a show of rolling his eyes at the rest there. ]

Alright, alright. I'm taking notes. Still don't think it'd be that hard for me.

[ He's joking but honestly would probably enjoy all of those activities. Again he just doesn't see a need to acknowledge that part of himself openly. ]

[Dodger lets out a contented sigh, and leans down to seek out another kiss.]

Later. I might send you some more ideas, too.

[Probably not. He'll be good and wait until Henry's tried out some of what he already suggested. They have nothing but time, after all.

He stretches, and slides off of the bed.]

I'm gonna go take a shower. You should probably take one after me, we're both... sticky.

I know you will.

[ He's already expecting at least some random 4am message from Dodger again.

But for now he nods and lies back as he watches Dodger get up. ]

I was planning to. Assuming you didn't break my back.

[ He's just complaining to complain. ]

[He snorts.]

I should rank you up at some point. If you had a bath tub in here I could just carry you in there, and you wouldn't have to do anything.

[He could also rank himself up - and he's thinking about it - but his own room is entirely off-limits. So that wouldn't be any use for their purposes.

He's about halfway to the en suite when he pauses, and wavers for a moment before asking:]

Do you want me to stick around after we're cleaned up?

That sounds very nice, I have to admit.

[ He kind of chuckles to himself, but he's imagining what Hans would say if he showed up and Henry was of a higher rank. So Dodger doesn't need to know what exactly is funny to him. ]

What, you're really thinking about it?

[ He raises a brow, but smiles. ]

I'm not planning on going anywhere, so I don't mind the company.

[smokedout]

[Dodger tips his head. Wondering briefly if that laugh is directed at him, or something private. But what Henry actually says is more important. And he leans against the doorway while he answers.]

I'm gonna do whatever you ask me to. So do you 'not mind', or do you want me?

[ Henry thinks that's a strange question, blinking back at Dodger a couple of times before he answers. Are they basically not the same thing?

He figures Dodger just needs reassurance... ]

I want you to stay and keep me company.

[Dodger's shoulders relax a bit, and his expression softens. He did in fact just need reassurance - too many people in his life are just putting up with him, it makes it hard to believe that Henry isn't as well.]

Then I will. I want to stick around you, too.

[He wavers, on the edge of saying something else before he thinks better of it. Instead he just disappears into the en suite to get cleaned up.]

[ Henry smiles at that, relaxing into bed again. He really is just going to melt there until it's his turn to clean up. ]

Sounds good.

[There's some humming in the shower, mostly to keep himself busy and partly because he's just feeling nice. It's quick, they always are, but at least he has the decency not to teleport around this time. He comes out of the bathroom already dry, and crawls back into bed to get comfortable again.]

Do you need help getting cleaned up, or can you manage?

[horseliberator]

[ Henry almost nods off to the sound of the water and Dodger humming, but is roused back up again when Dodger's back out. It does feel like barely any time passed at all, and he debates saying something about the man already being dry but decides he probably just doesn't want to think about it that hard.

So he scoffs a little, sitting up on the mattress. ]

I can manage. It's not like I've been shot or stabbed.

[ Maybe stabbed a little. But anyway. Henry's fallen off an entire cliff and managed to still use his own two feet (not well, mind you) so he is very insistent on not being fussed over for getting fucked in the ass. ]

[He snorts.]

Maybe just skewered. Don't worry, if I go any rougher than that I'll make sure to get you into a real bath tub, they're good for sore muscles.

[Or if he talks Henry into getting skewered between Dodger and another man... hmm, good thoughts.

Dodger rolls onto his side, getting comfy in a way that's almost performative.]

Go clean up, think about what you want to do after.

Yeah, yeah. [ Henry snorts right back at him, waving a hand as he finally gets himself up to his feed. ]

That sounds great, though. I'll hold you to it.

[ That being said, he (slowly) makes his way to the shower, where he is going to take a significantly longer time than Dodger did. He's used to long bathing sessions anyway, but also he deserves it today! ]

[There's something satisfying about watching Henry limp to the bathroom - it's pretty much praise for a job well done. He even wolf-whistles at him before settling in to wait.

Waiting involves doom-scrolling on his Watch for a while, seeing what he can find on the Peacock's version of Tiktok. Although in true Tiktok consumer fashion most of what Henry will hear is the first half-second of audio from each video while Dodger just swipes through mindlessly. He's really just wasting time until he's getting attention again.]

[ Henry gives Dodger a rude gesture quickly before he scuttles the rest of the way to the bathroom.

It's definitely not as nice as long, hot bath, but it helps nonetheless. And when he finally comes out of the steam-filled room with a towel around his waist, he already seems to be walking a bit better and everything.

Bed still looks pretty inviting. ]

Do people just stare at their Watch things for everything in your world too?

[ He ponders as he ungracefully rolls himself back onto the bed. ]

Yeah, pretty much. It's a distraction, and people love distractions from their shitty lives. Here, check this out.

[Dodger sits up, resting his legs across Henry's lap. It takes some fiddling to figure this out, because he hasn't really had a reason to do this yet, but he manages to project a video onto the wall across from the bed. Unfortunately the videos Dodger tends to watch are just... this but serious.]

[Dodger wilts a little. He'd been hoping for a bigger reaction to the Wonders Of Modern Video, but more than that, he doesn't like the feeling of Henry judging his taste in entertainment.]

Yeah? He's got good points. You give women too much freedom and you end up stuck at home hoping she's actually where she says she is, but you can't make a fuss about it because that's 'too controlling'.

[And yet Dodger himself runs entirely on his own schedule and always has... which led to almost daily arguments with his first girlfriend, after the honeymoon phase wore off.]

[ He looks back at the video, even reaching forward like he's going to touch whatever it's projecting. Yeah, he still doesn't get how it works. ]

The women I hang around with are incredibly strong willed. [ And he seems amused by this. ] You'd probably hate them.

[Dodger lets out a snort of amusement. Either at Henry trying to touch the projection, or... everything he says.]

Probably. Bitches can be fun for a bit, but I don't usually have the patience for them. I like women that know when to shut up and do what they're told.

[Small wonder why the women he interacted with most back home worked at the local brothel. It was not a friendly relationship - in fact he goes there mostly for one girl who can shapeshift into whoever he's thinking of.

He pauses, and turns the video off.]

I figured people in your time would crack down harder on it. Turning women into good housewives, training them to serve men, that sort of shit.

[He's not strongly attached to the idea - clearly not, since he focuses so strongly on dating men. He's just working off of his narrow view of the medieval era.]

[ Henry draws his hand back in once he discovers the projection won't be disturbed. ]

[ He smiles fondly at the thought of them. Henry does know plenty of milder, more traditional women. But even with Bianca or Theresa, he does seem to take an interest in the pushy ones. Perhaps he shouldn't wonder what that says about him ... ]

They do. These aren't regular women by any means. It's the woman's job to run the home, to mind her husband or her father. You won't just go and find a man waiting for you in the bath house, or a woman challenging you to a duel.

[ The medieval mindset is very much what Dodger is imagining for the most part. Henry is just open minded, and he's friends with all kinds of people. Proper ones, outcasts, peasants, nobles... ]

[He's thinking about a specific all-woman group of self-proclaimed 'heroes' that were a thorn in his side back home. Not his problem anymore.]

I used to date a chick that was pretty well-mannered - too well-mannered, actually, she really pissed off the man that raised me. He always figured she would call the police on him if she saw too much of what my home life was like. But... I liked coming home to her, after we moved out together. She always had food ready, always kept me company when I asked and gave me space when I needed it, always kept an ear out for what I needed.

[The alternative was pissing Dodger off and risking her own safety but that's... not important.]

God broke the mold when he made her. Haven't met a single woman as good as her since.

[ Well if he ever did the Right Thing and settled down with a woman who is very much within his station in life to obtain. But thinking about things like that sucks actually, so he just trails off. ]
