[Honestly, he's still pretty proud of himself for not dying up until now, given his reputation, but he has the sense to keep that to himself. Better not to worry Henry more.

He really doesn't like the hurt on Henry's face, though. Dodger ducks his head a bit, looking like a kicked dog, but he nods and lifts his shirt to show the blank space where that red tiger lily used to be. The scars from trying to remove it himself are still there, now over plain pale skin.]

It's gone. So he couldn't use it during the fight, but... he had other shit he could do. I think he could call Dabi and Bakugo in with his mind, he... didn't say anything, but they already knew where he was. I don't see why else they'd show up in my room.

[ Henry's eyes follow the movements, resting on the blank but scarred spot on Dodger's chest. It's a relief at least, that that won't be a problem anymore. When he looks back up, he's frowning. ]

The bastards. [ He'll ... process that later. But even with his loyalty blinders on, something is bothering Henry. ] Why did you have to go after him once it was gone, Dodger?

[ Granted, Dodger was acting very strange, on account of the goo no doubt. But if he'd just left Esikko alone ... if they'd just parted ways ... ]

Was he responsible for the first death as well?

[Dodger's shoulders slump further, and he drops his shirt. They're getting into the territory of things he's truly not proud of, and he already didn't feel great about everything else.]

I was flaring, he was close and he smells good. His blood smells like flowers, and... it's hard to think when I smell something good. [Another awkward shrug.] I guess I thought... it was gonna be the last time I got close to him, I should get his card before I let him go. But I wouldn't-... I'd like to think I wouldn't have done it if I wasn't... golden.

[He opens his mouth to answer the second question, and hesitates for a good few moments before shaking his head.]

No, uh... I was sleeping with Arthur. John's boyfriend. I got too rough with him, Arthur said it was fine, but... John tracked me down afterward. [He finally meets Henry's eyes, and takes his hands to squeeze them gently but urgently.] Don't hold it against him. I don't. I'd probably do the same thing, if you got hurt.

[He's still thinking about tracking down Bigby and punching him for the dare he gave Henry, he's just been too busy.]

The fucking flares...

[ Henry tries to hold back a groan but doesn't quite make it. He's not particularly impressed by Dodger's reasoning either, but after finally experiencing a flare himself, he does know that it can be hard to control ... urges.

For a card though? It doesn't seem worth it. And good thing Henry isn't in the middle of a flare right now, so the jealousy he feels over Dodger still apparently being a bit attached to Esikko is only very dull and not raging and unreasonable. It's easy for him to move on to the next point, which genuinely surprises him. ]

John? No, kurva.

[ He definitely believes that John is capable of murder and a great many other things, but that he'd actually do it?? The harder part is that Henry would also (has already threatened to, even) do something crazy if someone hurt a person he cared about. So he can't be furious about it. ]

I ... won't. [ He sighs, running a hand over his face a moment. Then that hand comes to rest beneath Dodger's chin. Henry studies him quietly for a few moments, though he's unable to completely quell the hurt that still lingers in his expression. ]

I don't ... know what to say anymore. You really worried me. Are worrying me. But I'm mad, too. Really fucking mad, Dodger.

[ At Dodger, at Esikko and his thugs, at himself too. He feels like he's being pulled in five directions, and it's excruciating. Yet that must be nothing to having died twice and come back again. ]

[Dodger leans his head against Henry's hand, giving him a searching look. All that guilt that was plaguing him during the last few weeks is coming back in waves, every time he sees the hurt on Henry's face. Makes it hard to keep eye contact at all, but it feels important to.]

So hit me. Or yell at me, or... whatever you need to do.

[He knows it's probably not the right answer, but it's still what he's used to. And it feels fair. Henry deserves to get a good few punches in, Dodger deserves to get hurt for worrying him.]

Or... ask me whatever you want. No secrets, I... [he feels like he lost that right when he used privacy against him] ...I wanna make this up to you. I'll tell you who scratched me up in March, too, if you want.

[ Dodger deserves to be punched in the face, that's for sure. But Henry just huffs softly, moving his hand up to the side of Dodger's face instead. ]

Bastard. We both know that won't do a thing.

[ Maybe he'll insist that Dodger fight him with the power-suppressing collar on again soon. But that doesn't matter so much right now. He leans in, close enough to bump their foreheads together if Dodger will let him. ]

Tell me. [ Not that a name is going to immediately connect the dots, but he definitely wants to know who was responsible for those wounds. ] And Dodger... the way you run off to these people who hurt you all the time. Is it because I won't? Like I'm not ... good enough or something.

[ That feels like the wrong wording when you're talking about how you won't near-fatally (or actually fatally) maim your boyfriend, but he can't think of anything better at the moment. He feels a little silly for asking, also especially since they are where they are, and it's not like Henry only sleeps with Dodger either. Something in his brain just needs to know, though. ]

Might be hot.

[He manages a self-depricating sort of half-grin before leaning in to let Henry bump their foreheads. And he takes a deep breath there, just enjoying the closeness.]

Bigby Wolf. He's the one that gave you that dare with the spices. [Henry might not have gotten the name, but Dodger could recognize his network handle.] He's... not a werewolf, but close enough.

[That question... well he has to think about it, and he feels very self-conscious about how long he has to think. So he covers up some of that by seeking out a kiss.]

It's just... like sex, or drinking, or... smoking. It feels good, getting hurt, getting forced down and used. I feel weird when it's been too long. So- yeah, I go to other people because I can't get it here, but I can't expect you to be everything, right? You're still the only person I come home to at night. I belong to you, just you.

That defeats the purpose I think.

[ He shakes his head briefly, all but giving up on the idea of giving Dodger the punch in the nose that he deserves. Now he blinks a few times, feeling a new kind of anger rise up in him as he gets a name. And it's a werewolf. And he's the one who had Henry eat something spicy and had the gall to judge him on something really personal! What are the odds... ]

What, are you fucking serious? That guy? [ Truly an unholy creation, a pox upon the earth and the hearts of good men. Why does Dodger have to be interested in him? ] I'm going to— Wait, you know about the dare too? Then you know he called me an adulterer!

[ Just when he thought he was calming down a bit, he gets this news. Dodger's further answer to his question also doesn't make him feel the greatest. He understands the explanation, it just isn't nice for him. Even the kiss doesn't really stop his pulse from rising, his heart dipping back into his stomach. ]

I know, I— I get it. It's just...you're supposed to cherish people that you love. What's worse is during that flare, I didn't hate it. But I can't do for you what someone else with your strength can. And when they go too far— and they do, Dodger — I can't even do anything about that either. You'll bring me to an early grave with how frustrating it is to care about you.

[Dodger shrinks back a bit from the anger, although he stays close enough that Henry can keep touching him. He deserves it, that doesn't stop it from feeling awful.]

Henry, we're both adulterers. You fuck people other than me, right? It doesn't matter.

[He doubts that's going to help, since this clearly means something to Henry. And he figures it's also best to keep to himself that even before coming here, he wasn't overly concerned with being faithful.]

...I'm not used to loving people the way you do. Being gentle, not... fighting and hitting and forcing them to listen. It's not how I grew up, it's not how I was with my partners back home. I'm... trying to be good, with you. [Although it helps that Henry never seems to do anything wrong in Dodger's eyes.] ...I'm sorry. For... everything. I know I'm fucked up, I don't want to drag you down with me.

What?

[ Henry genuinely looks like someone just flipped him off for no reason. ]

We're not even married! ... Anymore. Augh— [ All this sin really hurts his head. ]

Whatever. Anyway. That Bigby guy is a huge cunt.

[ And he'll go tear him apart later. For now, he tries to recalibrate his focus purely on Dodger. It's easier, when the man in front of him says things that are just so sad to Henry, and every ounce of loyalty and love in him wants nothing more than to tear that sadness out. ]

You deserved better than that. And I'm trying to show you. I'm doing the best I can ... [ Or is he? He can't tell anymore. Maybe his best isn't enough and never will be. It wouldn't make Henry turn away from Dodger, but what about the other way around? ] You aren't dragging me anywhere I don't want to be. Just ... talk to me. Trust me a little more, will you?

[Dodger's willing to believe Bigby's a cunt. Sure, the wolf's been good to him, but he doesn't know him. And Bigby fed Henry spices and made him upset and that's enough for Dodger to be willing to kick his ass.

Later. Right now his focus is on Henry, and on seeking out another kiss to try and calm him down a bit.]

I trust you. I do. I just... [he grimaces, and the thing in his chest acts up again, demanding honesty.] ...I didn't want you to be disappointed in me. For hurting people, for getting killed. And I told myself if I didn't talk to you then I could just... put it off, for a while, not have to... deal with it. I didn't have a plan, I was just... avoiding it.

[ Henry kisses him back, and is even a little slower to pull back from it again— He's missed it — but something about Dodger's explanation is just so silly to him. ]

I'm more disappointed that you tried to avoid me and hide things from me. You know that now.

[ He sighs softly, brushing his knuckles against Dodger's cheek. ]

You really hurt me... [ He's still kind of hurt about a couple of things, but he knows either he can work them out himself, or they can together. ] But I'm glad you've come to me now, and told me things. It ... makes things so much easier.

Sorry.

[He knows it doesn't really fix the damage, but that can come with time. Earning trust, proving that he learned something. And hoping he doesn't backslide again anytime soon.

Dodger leans into Henry's touch, and closes his eyes briefly.]

No more secrets. If you want to know something, I'll tell you.

[He looks briefly conflicted. Considering pledging to stop things Henry doesn't like, but... maybe better not to. Who knows if he could actually stick to that.]

You're the best thing that's ever happened to me, I don't... want to hurt you. [At least not emotionally.] I'm just... still figuring this out. How to have people close to me, I mean.

[ Maybe it doesn't, but it still means something, especially since Henry thinks Dodger hasn't dealt out a lot of apologies in his life. It'd be nice if he stopped some of the things he does, but Henry doesn't expect it. He only wants to try and show Dodger the other side of things and maybe ... change his mind. Or at least offer him comfort where he'd not had it before. ]

I told you before, I'm not going to run away that easily. So you should let me help you sometimes.

[ He pauses briefly and then suddenly pulls Dodger into an embrace, a lot of tension drifting off his body at last once he does so. ]

Just ... don't fucking do that again. And for Christ's sake, try to stay alive.

[Dodger hardly thinks this is an easy excuse to run away. And he nearly says as much, before Henry hugs him again and he just hugs back.]

I won't. I promise, I'll come find you if something happens. And... I'll try, to stay alive.

['Try' being the important word there.

Dodger presses another kiss to Henry's lips, and then another, while he slowly tries to guide him toward the bed. It's been too long, and it's probably the best he can do to really sooth Henry's nerves.]

Just... relax. I'm here, I'm gonna stick around. I don't wanna be back in my room right now, anyway, not 'til I rank up.

[ Listen, he knows what Henry meant! ]

I'll remember that.

[ As Dodger told him once, a "promise" is a really powerful thing. He'll hold him to it. And if he can help it, Henry is going to make sure that Dodger does stay alive. Whatever he can do, he'll do it. Yes, that could mean he gets hurt instead, but to him that's the better trade off for the people he loves.

He allows himself to step back toward the bed, sliding his hand down Dodger's arm until he's able to take his hand. He snorts a small laugh. ]

That isn't possible around you. [ And he means that almost entirely affectionately. He's missed the other man so much though, he has no arguments, pulling him in for another kiss before the backs of his legs even hit the mattress. ]

[Dodger lets out a noise like a purr, chasing that kiss eagerly before pushing Henry gently onto the bed. He's taking it as a compliment - he likes being chaotic, doesn't entirely see it as a bad thing that he keeps other people on their toes. Even if it is aging Henry terribly, surely the excitement is worth it.]

Don't know when I'm getting more potions... so lucky you, you get to bottom this time.

[Not that he's in any rush. For now he just positions himself between Henry's legs, and settles in to rut lazily against him while he keeps pressing more kisses to his lips, jaw, neck, wherever he can reach. Beneath the affection, there's also something a little more possessive - they've both been around other people for weeks, he feels the need to reclaim his territory. To touch everywhere someone else might have touched, and leave marks for others to see in the future. The first of which is a harsh bite to Henry's neck, stopping just short of drawing blood.]

[ Something in this place was always going to be aging Henry exponentially, so it could surely be worse.

He lands down against his elbow before Dodger's fully joined him. Then his arms wrap up around Dodger's shoulders and neck as he leans up into the kisses and returns them with feverish ones of his own. Never mind that he'll have to move those arms really soon so he can pull off his or Dodger's shirt. ]

I don't care either way.

[ The answer is breathy and in between kisses, and it's true almost all the time, but especially right now. When he does finally get too impatient to feel skin on skin, he reaches between them to pull Dodger's shirt up. Before they get completely carried away, he wants to give a better, proper look (or touch ... or maybe taste) of the flesh that's free of Esikko's mark. ]

[Dodger hesitates a little when Henry goes to pull his shirt up, but he moves with it, helps get it off and onto the floor. He's moved past any self-consciousness he might have about his body (at least with Henry specifically), but his necklace was among the things the resort took as payment for his 'surgery'. And he feels incredibly naked without it, especially without anything to cover the spot where it's supposed to hang.

He sits up a bit, partly to let Henry examine him and partly to give himself room to tug Henry's shirt off.]

It was... my favorite flower. Esikko's mark, I mean, he made it a tiger lily. They're my favorite.

[He has more to say about that, but he has trouble putting his thoughts in order. There's just... a lot there. Hurt, betrayal, anger, grief, the feeling that he shouldn't feel any of those things because he's got someone better to focus on. Or that he should be over it by now. And even if he doesn't feel much guilt about anything before it, he does feel guilt over how he got Esikko to take the mark away.]

[ Henry does frown a little, watching Dodger's face, listening to his words. It boils his blood a bit to hear that Esikko is associated now with something that Dodger is so fond of. It's worse that he still seems troubled about it. ]

That makes what he did even worse.

[ Some of that hurt bubbles back up into his expression, though he tries to swallow it down. It's not that he wouldn't understand the feelings that Dodger is going through, even if he doesn't like them.

Once his own shirt is out of the way and his arm is free, he carefully brushes his fingers against that spot. ]

Forget about him. You can get a better tiger lily.

[ And you have me... ]

[Dodger shivers slightly at the touch, but he leans into it. And after a few moments, he leans down to press another kiss to Henry's lips. Soft and slow, like he's trying to pull his attention back.]

Fuck tiger lilies. I'll get something there that makes me think of you. Calendulas, or... a bible verse or something.

[He pauses.]

I wanna keep the scars, though. As a... reminder.

[To be more careful, with who he lets close to him. That's what most of his scars are reminders of, honestly.]

[ It appears to work, as Henry slowly but surely kisses back, though his eyes fall to the blank but scarred spot again once Dodger pulls back to speak. ]

Tell me what they mean?

[ The flowers, that is. Maybe the bouquet he brought as well. Later, of course. Once they're done getting reacquainted. Finally he looks back to meet Dodger's gaze, though he gives a nod. ]

I can understand that.

[ Henry wouldn't want to heal that scar on his left shoulder blade either, even if there is magic here that could erase it forever. He wants- needs- the reminder of what happened, what it stands for, and who he bears it for.

He seeks out another kiss this time, as though they still haven't made up for lost time, flopping back down completely on the bed and hoping Dodger follows with him. He's tired of thinking about heavier stuff, God can forgive him if he just wants to indulge for a little while. ]

I will. After.

[They're decidedly busy at the moment, even though he probably could explain flower language while fucking Henry.

Dodger answers the kiss easily, and moves right back in to lay on top of Henry. Once it breaks he leans down to leave more kisses along the younger man's neck, down to his collarbone, and hesitating briefly before he wraps his lips around one of Henry's nipples. Sucking gently, but with his mouth heated up just enough to add extra stimulation.]

[ Henry hums his agreement, moving to loosely put his arms around Dodger just so he's touching him.

He watches curiously as Dodger moves down a bit, almost protesting when he gets to his nipple. However, as soon as lips close against it, and there's that little burst of heat, Henry's protest turns into a soft groan. It's not manly to have your own nipples toyed with, but it does feel very good. If it's Dodger doing it in the privacy of his room though, it's probably okay.

So inevitably Henry's fingers slide into dark tresses of hair and against the scalp, stroking encouragingly as he arches his back just slightly, to bring his body closer up against Dodger's. ]

[It's not manly, which was most of Dodger's hesitation - because he bats away any attempt to play with his own nipples, regardless of how good it feels. But that bit of encouragement is all he needs to keep going, suckling for a while before moving to the other to give it the same treatment. And once he's satisfied he leans up, to capture Henry's lips again.]

I missed the way you sound... I'm never staying away that long again.

[While he speaks, Dodger reaches down to grip the rim of Henry's pants and just rip clean through them and his underwear, as if they made of paper. It's easier, that way, to get them onto the floor without having to really untangle themselves. He's just as careless with his own pants, and the sadly blank boxers he's wearing under them. Although once they're off he pauses.]

You've got lube in here, right? I didn't pick any up on the way over.
