[Dodger ends up blushing, and raising a hand up to try and mask it. Which does fuck all in such close proximity, so after a bit of hesitation he just leans a little more heavily against Henry.]

[Or like adopting a stray dog. But he likes the idea of being domestic like that with someone who actually appreciates it. Unlike Esikko.]

Let's do it sometime. Get some good food, and water, and go back to your place after. And I'll keep my hands to myself if you want me to.

[He doesn't tend to sleep for very long, but he does need more sleep than he gets. He just doesn't afford himself the luxury, it feels like luxury enough to have Henry next to him.]

[ That makes Henry smile, bringing his free arm up around Dodger's shoulders.

He just really deeply feels that Dodger has never been taken care of properly, and he isn't sure he's the most qualified to change that, but he can do his best. He just expected more of a resistance from the man who wants to be collared and choked and called questionably rude things. ]

You wouldn't have to do that, but I would make sure you got to sleep.

[ Some... how. He'll think about that later. ]

Alright then, same question for you. But you can't answer something like you want me to stab you with a knife.

[He has to tease, even if he is planning to explain knifeplay at some point later for Henry's benefit.

He wavers, though, on what exactly he wants to ask for. And finally he settles on something safer than what's on his mind.]

I wanna watch you fuck Rin, and eat her out after you're done with her.

[Doesn't have to be Rin specifically, but she is the only woman willing to sleep with Dodger.]

And, ah... Viktor asked about fucking you while I watched. Since I was talking about having him watch me with Jayce. That seemed fun, too.

[ Henry just chuckles a little at that, setting his drink aside for the moment. He is still determined not to get silly. ]

After I'm done?

[ Dodger has something about eating cum apparently, but Henry doesn't say that out loud. Instead, he lifts his eyebrows at the mention of Viktor. The man did say he was amenable to playing the 'game' with Henry, but he still seems surprised. ]

Viktor did? I feel... kind of... flattered.

Yeah. I want to taste you on her.

[Ignoring that he can't taste things. It's the thought that counts.]

And yeah, he did. Might be fun to... swap blacksmiths. I don't know if I could handle three men at once, but... I trust you and I trust both of them, so maybe we could do something in the same room.

[He hesitates.]

I like watching you enjoy yourself. So it'd be good, watching you with someone else.

Right. Well, if she agreed to it...

[ She is an attractive girl, so he doesn't really mind. Henry is but a simple bisexual man.

"Swapping blacksmiths" makes him laugh though. ]

Sure, might be fun. I've yet to meet Jayce, I'm not sure that's the setting I want it to be.

[ He pauses a moment, thinking of all this combined with something Viktor said to him. ]

Are Viktor and Jayce ... together?

Yeah. They were uh... research partners back home, scientists that work together. But they're boyfriends here. I'm sure it was brewing back home, and neither of them act like it's weird to like men. So.

[He shifts to make himself a little more comfortable, and takes another drink.]

Leads pretty neatly into my next question, actually. Would you want to do that? Be together with someone here?

[While he waits for Hans. A thought that occurs to him, and that gets squashed down immediately.]

Huh.

[ Amazing. Crazy, wild. Almost incomprehensible to Henry, had he not already been in the Golden Peacock for the handful of months that he has. If this was when he was freshly arrived, he wouldn't believe it at all. Might even get a bit angry about it. ]

With ... someone here?

[ He thinks back to that confession of Dodger's when he had taken Viktor's potion. It squeezes his chest in two very different directions. ]

I ... I don't know the answer to that.

[ He feels like he has to be loyal to Hans. But what if Hans doesn't even care about him the same way? What if he never shows up and Henry never goes back home?

That last thought is enough to make him feel a bit sick, so he takes a drink. ]

[Maybe he tipped his hand too early. Maybe Henry is just afraid of telling him no, after all the talk of Dodger's temper. Or maybe he really did put that drug-addled confession out of his mind and he just doesn't have any thoughts about it. But it's not a no, and Dodger can't help clinging onto that possibility that it means he has a shot.

Even if something sharp and prickly curls into his chest, getting a non-answer.]

Point for me, then.

[He keeps his tone even, as best as he can. There is a little disappointment slipping through.]

I'm not gonna press. Your turn to ask.

[ It's less to do with Dodger himself or that confession from before, and mostly to do with Henry's own hang-ups and uncertainties.

He looks over at the man quietly, unsure of what to say or what not to say. Dodger says he won't press, but Henry feels like he owes him explanations. ]

Dodger...

[ Something is on the tip of his tongue, and he nearly lets it go, but changes his mind at the last second. ]

Back when you drank Viktor's potion, that wasn't all the potion's doing was it?

[Dodger stills, in turn. He was pretty comfortable leaning against Henry, and that makes it all the more obvious when his body tenses up, and he reaches a little too quickly to take another drink.]

Pass.

[He knew the question was coming sooner or later. And maybe he thought about it when starting this game, too, that he might be able to just rip the bandaid off in his own way. But when the moment finally comes, he finds himself glancing around the room for an exit. Reminding himself what is behind each of the walls, if he has to teleport. Soothing himself with the knowledge that Henry couldn't follow him if he teleported through the floor.

There's no real reason for his mind to treat it like an active threat. But it does, and Dodger is kicking himself for being this much of a coward.]

[ Henry grimaces a little. ]

Okay. Fair enough.

[ He tentatively brings a hand to rest against Dodger's arm, as though he wants to say "don't go". He doesn't want him to leave because of his own lack of answer, or at trying to get this answer. The whole intent of this was to distract him from his nightmare and everything else, so he wants to keep doing that.

Naturally he can't stop Dodger if he does truly want to leave. He just hopes he doesn't. ]

Your question, then.

[Dodger hesitates when Henry's hand moves, and settles a bit. Still on edge, but making it clear he won't leave. He isn't even sure where he'd go, he doesn't want to be alone right now.]

...I feel like you're gonna pass this. But.

[More hesitation. But it feels like they're on the edge of something and as afraid as he is to tip over it, he also can't quite stop pulling the thread.]

What do you want my answer to be? About if I- about the potion.

[ He would relax a bit, feeling that Dodger won't run away, but the question turned to him has him all tensed up again. He feels like a bowstring about to snap. ]

That's not really fair, is it?

[ It isn't fair. It's downright dirty. Or it would be, if Henry had no option of backing out of it, which he does. He just isn't sure he wants to keep pretending he doesn't notice certain things about how Dodger talks to or acts around him. And he doesn't want to go around in circles like this either, especially if he might be drunk enough to be really stupid one of these rounds. ]

It's... Hans. I ... I'm in love with him. [ Duh, Henry. ] But I don't think I could ever tell him that. I also don't want to- I wouldn't want to hurt him, or be untrue.

[ He takes a swig, which is totally not abiding by the rules but whatever. ]

But I really care about you too, Dodger. I wasn't upset when you said that before. Just ... confused?

[He knows Henry is in love with Hans. He's known it since they first met, because Henry talks about him the way Dodger used to talk about Augustine, before his opinion of the man started festering from within. But it still stings to hear it in as many words. He's borrowing time from Hans, and that's assuming Henry actually wants him in the first place.]

I have a boyfriend back home.

[It feels stupid to bring it up. But Henry already knows he's not loyal, he's talked about sleeping around behind Janet's back.]

Jason, is his name. I liked him plenty, but he wasn't... I wasn't that attached. He was just convenient. He was my first boyfriend and it... felt right at the time.

[Anything he felt about Jason has paled in comparison to how he feels about multiple people here, and feels like nothing at all compared to what he feels about Henry.

Dodger's hand moves to scratch at one of his wrists, mostly without his notice.]

I'd break things off if he was here. So it's different, from... you and Hans. But I'm tied down, technically, too. I just... I've never had someone- care about me, and understand me, like you do. But it's- you're waiting on him so it doesn't really- this is stupid. We can just forget it.

A boyfriend. Right.

[ That's like something that goes with "dating". Like a word for a lover. Wild.

Henry shakes his head so as not to get distracted. There are a lot of things about Dodger he still doesn't understand, and his personal relationships is one of them. It's not that he's judging it, he just doesn't really get it.

It is a little different. Especially in that Henry isn't sure he'd ever tell Hans how he felt. He has no idea that it's definitely reciprocated. Which is really dumb of him, but there are a lot of outside factors contributing to his obtuseness.

He leans in slightly, the backs of his fingers resting up against Dodger's jaw. It really is confusing for him, since he just feels this inexplicable need to kiss the man right now. ]

It's not stupid, Dodger. I never even thought that with the potion or anything. I just ... kurva, I don't know, I just wanted you to know that I ... I'm just thinking about a lot, that's all.

[He's very aware of the fingers on his jaw, how close they still are. It has him looking up at Henry, with a look that is almost... pained. Deeply stressed out by how much he wants him, and how sure he is that this isn't going anywhere.]

You want someone else. And I'm... not supposed to get attached like this. So it is stupid.

[But that is an admission, in and of itself. So the game is up.

Hesitantly, Dodger reaches a hand up to run his fingers over the back of Henry's hand. He shifts so they can fully face each other, because he needs to watch Henry's face while he talks.]

The potion... exaggerates things that are already there, I think. The same way my suit does, when it flares. And it's... [he takes a deep breath, that comes out very shaky.] ...I want you. I want to belong to you. And I wanted it a little then, and it keeps... getting bigger, and feeling stupider, because I already knew you were pining after Hans, and it's- I just thought maybe with... the dog tag... I don't know, it's-

[Stupid. That's the only word he can really think to use.]

[ He wants someone he can't have. Even if Hans returned his feelings, back home there is no way they could ever be anything that didn't involve very, very cautious sneaking around. That in itself feels stupid too, even if Henry can feel in his heart he would do it if it was for Hans.

But it's no small thing that he's offered to show up to a magic fight with a sword for Dodger, either. He thinks that's important. Hence his overall confusion. It's not even that the notion of loving more than one person is unspeakable to him — his mother did, after all. But for him, all of this is "wrong" in the eyes of God either way. So he contends with the constant feeling of being condemned to an eternity of torture.

He could tell Dodger he doesn't need to talk about it or explain it if he doesn't want to. After all, he already passed on the question before. But it also feels like shutting it down wouldn't be the right move either, since Dodger seems to want to talk about it now.

He also manages not to look completely surprised that Dodger could already tell he wanted Hans. Wh- ] You did? [ he swallows thickly. ] But I — that's.

...

I didn't make that present for you for no reason at all. I do care about you. Very much so.

I've got eyes and ears, Henry.

[That's all he really needs to say about that. Maybe it isn't obvious to everyone, but Dodger knows what it's like to pine after someone, especially someone you're indebted to. It's exactly why he's always been so quick to pick at things with Hans, undermine him, dismiss him. Why he's not sure how he'd even react if he finally met the man.

But his attention also gets pulled away immediately. Because the dog tag... meant something. Of course it did. And Dodger's skin has started to heat up, his heart is beating a little too fast.]

It's the best present I've ever gotten. [He ventures carefully.] And I thought maybe... it meant you wanted me, too.

[Caring isn't the same thing as wanting, even if the word love feels far too loaded. He cares about his brother, he cares about (some of) his friends, he cared about his boss until relatively recently.]

It's fine if we're just... friends. [It isn't.] I just... I really want to be with you. I care about you, and you're important to me, and I... like how I feel around you. You make me feel like I'm worth something.

[ Henry is. Appalled by this, thinking he's so casual about his feelings for Hans. But it's really, probably not the time to argue it or figure it out.

Part of him knew that Dodger needles him about Hans because of ... feelings. But another part of him was that part that was being deliberately obtuse about all of it. Because he does love Hans. That's his best friend, he'd protect him with his life. He just really doesn't know what to do with Dodger having worked his way into the picture. ]

I don't just fuck all of my friends.

[ Okay so he does fuck some of them, especially here. But there's still a difference than what he has with them and whatever this is with Dodger. He's not that dumb not to see that. ]

And you are worth something, Dodger. I've already told you that.

[ He's worth something to Henry, and he's worth something in general. It's just that Henry doesn't think that Dodger sees that, or is willing to see that without a hard push in the right direction. ]

I think I want both of you. And I don't really understand that, or know if I want to.

[ But even the thought of Dodger lessening his worth to Henry or saying his thoughts and feelings are stupid actually makes him feel really upset. ]

[Dodger's face has started to turn a little red, and he feels like his heart is beating out of his chest. Just from the sheer excitement of Henry's words, at being wanted, properly. He takes a deep breath, and leans forward to press a kiss to Henry's lips.]

Then I'm yours. As long as you want me.

[It's followed by a few more kisses, mostly to his lips, a few to his cheeks. It's more than he'd hoped for, honestly - not just borrowing time from Hans, but a possibility of still having Henry even if the lord shows up. It settles something that's been restless in his chest for a while, without being properly examined.]

If- when, Hans shows up, we'll figure that out. But until then, you've got me, and I'm not leaving.

[ Henry uncurls his fingers so they rest gently against the side of Dodger's face again. He returns the first kiss, but just kind of laughs breathily through the onslaught of kisses that follow.

Does he have any idea what he's doing right now? No. But sometimes that's how Henry deals with things best. For now, he also tries to ignore the sharp feeling of hopelessness that Hans could ever show up here in his chest. He wants it so badly, mind you, it just feels like God has to be able to punish him somehow.

It's fine for now. He feels lighter at the moment, and there is going to be time to figure his feelings out and what to do about it if Hans ever does actually appear.

Once Dodger's attack of kisses is over, he leans in to claim his own. It's a single kiss, long and slow, but he pulls back just enough to speak, with a little lopsided smile on his face. ]

And if I earn my dog back, are you going to be jealous of him?

[ Teasing. But also it's his turn, that's his question. ]

[It earns a startled laugh out of him. Just because he'd been taking this so seriously, and that... fuck, it's as good a way as any to lighten the mood. He ends up pinching Henry's cheek gently.]

I'll just have to get my dog back, too, so he'll have someone to keep him busy. Then they can both say out of my way.

[Dodger will, most likely, get jealous of Mutt taking Henry's attention away. But he thinks he'd be able to handle it, just like he thinks he'd be able to control the urge to kick Crusher in front of Henry. Time will tell if either of those things work out for him.]

Do you want me to tell people we're together? Or... keep it discreet?

[He isn't sure what he wants himself. He's been perfectly happy calling Henry a friend, to everyone else, although he doesn't think he's fooling anyone. It just seems dangerous to be open about such a close attachment.]

[ Henry couldn't help himself. He's just got ten thousand thoughts swimming through his head all at once, and that's the one that surfaced. Perhaps he needed to break the tension just a little bit.

He laughs, ducking his face out of the way of that pinch. ]

Fine by me. Mutt would love a friend.

[ He would also try to follow Henry everywhere. So there is that.

As for the next question, he pauses a moment, letting his hand smooth upward and into Dodger's hair a bit. If Dodger's ... acquaintances really are as dangerous as he says, he doesn't want to be a liability or something they can exploit. Even though he hates that thought and it makes him feel like a helpless maiden. ]

Probably best to keep it quiet, don't you think? I won't be used against you, I refuse.

[Dodger lets out a sigh of relief. The same as Henry getting used to Dodger leaving after sex so quickly, it's just... very nice not having to justify himself.]

Yeah. I mean I think... I think Rin already figured it out. But I'd rather not shout it from the rooftops.

[He does want to tell a few people. Viktor and Jayce, more than anyone. Unfortunately, his best friend Chobe is probably the last person he'd tell, just because Chobe is actually dangerous. And even if Toma was just having a suit flare when he flipped out about Chobe and Esikko being an item, Dodger can't entirely shake the idea that the information would make its way to the prince.]

Those fire-proofing potions would probably help you fight Bloemrose's boyfriend, Dabi. So there's that. If I figure out something that would help you against the other people I'm worried about, I'll let you know.
