Mhm. [ The shower actually distracts Henry though, which could be a blessing or a curse. ] I prefer the baths still, but having that shower in here is really useful. And convenient. I have no idea how it even works still.

Good. [He pauses, and tips his head.] What kind of scraps were you getting into, back then?

[ Mostly because he is curious, and he wants to see more things from Dodger's world. Fooling around there is just a sort of bonus?

It's a little strange to be kissed after Dodger was literally just licking up his cum, but hell. He rolls with it anyway. Things have been entirely weird this whole encounter and he'd rather err on the safe side of not rocking the boat too much. ]

[ There were and still are many times where Henry could choose a different way and maybe not end up so heroic. He's fully aware of that, even if he doesn't like to think of it. His smile is a bit wistful about his old friends in Skalitz growing up, and he shakes his head a little. ]

I guess so. They weren't the brightest bunch. But they came through when it mattered. I think Ma knew that too.

[ he gives a soft laugh then. ]

I'd offer to have a row with you but unfortunately I don't think my pride could take it if you pulled your punches or simply beat my arse into the ground.

[That gets a laugh out of him, equally soft.]

If I didn't pull my punches I'd break your jaw. But I bet you could kick my ass if I didn't have powers.

[He's fully lying - even without his powers, he really doubts Henry is a match for Dodger's odd blend of martial arts. He'd have to stick to just boxing to keep things even enough, but he's not in a hurry to wound the younger man's pride for no reason.

He shifts forward again, to steal another kiss.]

Some day when I get my guns back, I'll teach you how to shoot. It'll give you a fighting chance against me, if something happens.

[Ominous...]

I would certainly try.

[ He has no idea how strong Dodger would be without his strength and powers, but he is confident in himself. He's scrappy. And also sometimes just gets real mad.

He's not feeling either of those things now as he smiles against the kiss and perks up a little again. ]

I've shot a gun before. It was ... terrible. [ Turns out medieval firearms are not great. Or accurate. But some of Henry's cheer is replaced with mild suspicion at Dodger's last comment. ]

What do you mean by that?

Modern guns are different. You might like it.

[He's speaking with zero background knowledge, as someone whose favorite gun is only as useful as it is because Dodger has the strength to handle the insane kickback from it. But he sure does sound confident.

The question makes him sober a bit, though. And for a moment he wavers, deciding how best to word it.]

I've got temper issues. Sometimes I get so pissed off I lose control of myself. Just... haven't been set off much here, but I like knowing the people I care about have a way to deal with it.

[Would a gun actually help that much, given that Dodger has only been hit by a bullet once? Hard to say, but it feels better than knowing Henry is fully defenseless against him.]

Maybe. But I like my sword. And the bow's not bad.

[ Yes he's going to be stubborn about it. Yes he would still try a modern gun out and completely expect not only the terrible recoil of a 15th century gun, but also the random as fuck explosion it gives off.

As for the rest, he sobers a little bit. Even when Dodger has shown him flashes of how dangerous he is, Henry hasn't thought that he could piss the man off so badly that he might just go for the kill or something. He does still have a lot to learn about this man though.

At the same time, Henry has a little bit of a temper too. So he kind of understands. ]

I see. I don't reckon I'll be trying very hard to see that part of you.

[Honestly, Dodger had expected more of a reaction. But he expects almost everything about himself to either scare people off or sour their opinion of him, so he was already geared up for the worst. Understanding is... by far, the last thing he expects.

He lets out a quiet sigh of relief, and settles back down.]

You've got a good track record so far. You're... calming, actually.

[He doesn't necessarily want to get careless, it still feels important to drip-feed parts of himself in case he becomes too much. But it's very encouraging, every time he lets his guard down a little more and Henry takes it well.]

[ The love confession actually scared Henry more than the prospect of a temper or even of being in danger. But they don't need to talk about that... ]

Calming, really?

[ That makes him grin a bit, glancing down at Dodger almost with a glint of mischief. ]

If you ever do meet my lord Capon, be sure to tell him that will you?

[He answers with a wry smirk. Right, Lord Capon.... every day Dodger is a little more antsy about Hans showing up here. But it's been a few months, and Scott had to wait a whole year to see someone from his world, so maybe he doesn't have to worry quite yet. Even if Dodger is still sure that people can be drawn in by someone they're close to already being here.]

Sure. And if you ever meet Victor Augustine you can tell him someone actually likes being around me.

[Dodger sits up, back to just straddling Henry's lap, although he's in no hurry to actually get up. He should take a shower, but he wants to stay right here. At least a little longer.]

[ Hans showing up here would be a blessing and a nightmare. Henry would constantly worry and fuss over him in his own Henry ways. Hans would, unbeknownst to Henry, get insanely jealous. But also, he could tell Hans how he feels and they could be together and no one would bat an eye—

Yeah, it wouldn't be good news for Dodger. ]

I would do that. And it wouldn't even be a lie.

[ He laughs briefly, and it settles into a smile. Honestly, he can't hold things over Dodger because there are plenty of ways Henry can basically just walk outside and point at something and sound stupid as shit. So there is that. ]

Hard to think you're dumb when I can't understand a word you're saying half the time, you know. Anyway, you're not so bad.

[Which makes him think of Jason. And how very, very thankful he is that his boyfriend hasn't shown up here.

Dodger tips his head, and pauses for a moment just to keep admiring Henry. For a few moments, he wrestles with the impulse to ask him on a proper date. Partly out of a need to stake his claim before they actually have to worry about Hans. But... not after that love confession. He'll have to wait until it feels less weighted.]

I should go shower. I'll get out of your hair once I'm cleaned up.

[He hesitates again.]

Thanks, for... putting up with my bullshit.

[ But he still kind of doubts it.

He looks back up at Dodger, thinking for a moment to ask him what's on his mind, but the moment passes just a little too quick, and Dodger's getting up and ready to shower. It's kind of a shame to lose his warmth already, but he does very much deserve to get cleaned up. ]

Sure, take your time. You're not bothering me, Dodger.

[ He means it. And he agreed to this! Why wouldn't he, he got to have free breakfast, nice sex, and a bonus love confession (???) out of the deal. He will let Dodger have his peace though and kind of rolls onto the side so he can watch him go off to the little en suite bathroom. ]

[It's strange - he's so deeply unused to people enjoying his company the way Henry seems to. He can't help feeling that it means something, that he never gets memory-bleeds around this man. Like it's an anomaly for any version of Dodger to feel the way he does at the moment.

That thought gets pushed aside immediately, and he closes the door to the en suite behind him and works on cleaning himself up. It's quick, he doesn't want to overstay even if Henry's given him no indication that he's doing so. And once he's finished, he comes back to work on gathering his clothes and dressing himself.]

You can keep that milk, if you want it. [He nods toward the mason jar on the nightstand.] It's an... aphrodisiac, I guess, keeps you going after you run out of energy. But you probably want to use it soon, can't imagine it's gonna last forever.

[ It doesn't seem that Henry moves much from his bed while Dodger is in the shower. He doesn't really have any sort of agenda and it's nice to just take a breather for a few minutes.

When Dodger does come out he finally sits up though, swinging his legs over the side of his bed. He glances at the jar on the table and gives a little nod. ]

[ He doesn't specify actually if that's an invitation or just an idle comment. He's already standing up and stretching his limbs a little so he can make his way to the shower once Dodger disappears. ] You're headed out then?

[Dodger would like to think that's an invitation, but it feels silly to assume he's the only person Henry's sleeping with. Henry is, as far as Dodger's concerned, a perfect catch.

He shrugs at the question.]

Yeah. I didn't sleep last night, figured I should catch up before I do anything else.

[And he still feels awkward, every time he sticks around after sex. Especially now, when he's still fumbling with how to act around Henry.]

[He gestures vaguely.]

[ Dodger is currently the most frequent, in any case. The one he's most comfortable with, when it comes to men. He doesn't know what that means.

[Dodger shrugs awkwardly.]
