Henry listens to the question and is quiet for a moment as he thinks. Dodger really must be having a Time today. That doesn't mean Henry is automatically just absolving him of withholding Bigby information, but he does soften a little finally. ]

I think the only thing would be if you somehow hurt Hans, or any of my remaining family. [ that includes Mutt... ] Maybe if you were Satan himself or something. [ haha ]

There are a lot of things I don't understand about you, Dodger, but I think I'm in this a little too deep now to run so easily.

[Dodger, unfortunately, does not see Mutt as falling into that category... but the dog was pretty good at staying out of his way in Goldenville, so maybe that will be okay.

He does appreciate the sentiment - it gets him to relax a little, even if he still feels like he should be making it up to Henry how closely tied to devil-worship he is. And more importantly-]

Maybe not Satan. But I've done a lot of bad things, and I'm not losing sleep over all of them. I'm certainly not making it into Heaven.

[He pauses.]

Dabi threatened to talk to you about me. He doesn't know who you are, but that doesn't mean it's impossible for him to figure it out. So- yeah. I'm just in my head about it.

[ Mutt could probably sense the vibes. Probably even growled at Dodger a few times, but wouldn't do anything other than that without orders from Henry. Usually.

Henry breathes out, it's a little hard to tell what kind of emotion is behind that, but then he speaks again after a few moments. ]

I feel like I've been questioning if I'll ever get to Heaven for the past year or so. Even more now that I'm here. But ... I have to believe that God is benevolent and forgiving. I know great men at home, but they've killed people and they've slept with somebody's wife or picked a lock or two.

[ He still thinks there's a chance they'll be welcomed into Heaven. But he knows that's not the part Dodger is actually worried about, so he just keeps on going. ]

I've seen horrible things. Maybe even participated in them. So what is it that Dabi thinks he can tell me that would chase me away from you?

[He does listen to all the talk about Heaven, even though he's not really invested in it. He's never believed very strongly in the concept, and even if his various atrocities are forgivable he can't imagine that actual devil-worship would be.

But it's also not the point.]

Mostly the shit from January. Trying to kill Esikko, showing up drunk in his room, threatening to assault him. You knew all that. But... Esikko's been telling other people what's in my room, and I-... it's been driving me nuts, knowing he could tell someone I'm close to about it. And I can't do shit about it.

[Dodger's been drinking more than he should, for months now. Worse in January, better after his birthday, then worse again during and after Goldenville. He tries not to be sloppy-drunk in front of other people, but Henry's suite is a safe space so he's definitely shown up drunk and passed out next to him a few times.]

[ He did indeed know all of that, and mystically- we just don’t know why- took Dodger’s side in it. In fact, let him just cement that if Dodger’s unsure. ]

Yes, and Esikko’s a right cunt. So what exactly could you be hiding in your room that I would hate more than that?

[ he genuinely can’t think of anything. sure, sometimes he keeps things he wants to protect or keep private in his various rooms, but … something bad enough that telling someone else would mess with his head this badly? Henry is full of doubts there.

Dodger’s surprised him before, but it’s fine. ]

[Dodger really has the devil's charm... he can't help a startled little laugh at Henry continuing to be on his side about all this.]

It's-... it doesn't really matter. Don't ask questions you don't want the answers to.

[That probably makes it sound worse than it is... and he does think maybe all of this secrecy is the real reason why Jayce hadn't reacted all that strongly to it. (Although he's also pretty sure people from Runeterra are just weird.)]

[ Esikko's use of magic against Dodger really sealed the deal. But he is just terribly loyal on top of that. ]

[ Of course he's curious now, if it really is something that would upset him. But it just doesn't make sense to him that it would be. Nothing that would change his opinion of Dodger. Like he's cursed and prayed and thought about constantly, he's in too deep now. ]

That's fine, Dodger. And I don't want you showing me anything just because someone else is making you feel like you have to. You're not going to lose me because of them. I can make my own choices.

[Dodger is silent, for a long while. Really, he's just... trying not wrap his head around that, and maybe also figure out what he did to deserve that sort of trust. It's always just... made sense, to keep himself apart from other people because people are curious, and throwing up barriers just makes them demand entry. It was already a blessing when Esikko (usually) didn't push his limits, he's not sure what to do with Henry fully respecting his privacy.]

[His voice sounds a little wet, but he's... trying very hard not to get overly emotional. And he clears his throat forcefully a moment later.]

I... yeah. You're right. Just... tell me if Dabi or Esikko tries to talk to you, alright? I know you can handle it, I just... want to know.

[ Probably no one, even Henry, is entirely sure what Dodger did to earn that level of trust. But as he's always said, even if Dodger originally thought nefarious things about Henry, he never has done anything horrible to him. He's been nothing but good, even when he teases him or harasses him with the teleporting. It could be so much worse, and he's aware of that without having to meet any of Dodger's enemies to find out. ]

Aye, aye. [ He soothes, though his chest bursts with warmth to hear it. ] This is how it should be between two people who care about each other, you know.

But I'll tell you. Promise.

[It does help, all by itself. Sure, he'll still have his contingencies planned out for what to do if Dabi does decide to hurt Henry for some reason... but Henry is on his side and he won't be caught on the back foot like he was when Esikko talked to Scott, so... he can relax, at least a little.]

I think we've done enough to stop here. Or we can keep playing, at least it'll keep us away from dealing with everyone else. Up to you.

[He knows Henry is better with people than he is... so it's mostly that Dodger doesn't want to have to talk to anyone else, but still.]

[ not that it hasn't been entertaining- except for Bigby's dare, damn- but he doesn't feel he'd be missing out on much by stopping. ]

[He doesn't know what Bigby did but he does know every dare he got so far was embarrassing and that's the worst thing that can happen to him. He'd honestly rather get tortured.]
